Formula & Methodology
Age in years, months, and days can't be found through simple subtraction of date components, since months have different lengths and years can be leap years - the calculator instead counts complete years elapsed (checking whether this year's birthday has occurred yet), then complete months within the current partial year, then remaining days, borrowing from the actual calendar (not a fixed 30-day assumption) at each step.
Step-by-Step: Calculating It By Hand

- 2Check whether the birthday has occurred yet this year; if not, subtract one from the year count and borrow those months.
- 3Find complete months elapsed since the most recent birthday, using actual calendar month lengths.
