Step-by-Step: Calculating It By Hand
- 1Convert weight to kilograms and height to centimeters if needed.
- 2Multiply weight by 10 and height by 6.25, then sum them.
- 3Subtract 5 times age from that sum.
- 4Add 5 (for men) or subtract 161 (for women) to find estimated BMR.
