How It Works

To work this out manually, divide the total number of program hours by the number of hours committed per week to get the raw number of weeks required. Since months are not a fixed number of weeks, the calculator divides that weeks figure by 4.33, the average number of weeks in a calendar month, to produce an approximate month count rather than a rounded whole number. Both figures assume a consistent weekly pace with no breaks, so real-world completion may run longer if hours committed vary week to week.

A certificate program requires 600 total hours, and the student can commit 15 hours per week. The completion time is 600 / 15 = 40 weeks, which converts to roughly 40 / 4.33 = 9.2 months.
A Shorter Program with Limited Weekly Time
A 300-hour professional certificate program is being completed by a student who can only commit 8 hours per week around a full-time job. That works out to 300 / 8 = 37.5 weeks, or about 37.5 / 4.33 = 8.7 months.
