How It Works

Formula & Methodology
To scale a recipe by hand, multiply your single-serving size in ounces by the number of servings you need to get total batch volume, then divide by 8 to convert to cups or multiply by 0.0295735 to convert to liters for easier measuring in a pitcher or container. Apply that same servings number as a straight multiplier to every ingredient in the original single-serving recipe, keeping their proportions to each other exactly the same, then add ice separately just before serving.

3 oz Cocktail for 20 Guests
For a 3 oz single serving scaled to 20 servings, total volume = 3 x 20 = 60 oz, which converts to 7.5 cups and about 1.77 L, with each ingredient multiplied by 20x.
