About the Swing Speed to Distance
This calculator gives a rough estimate of driver carry distance based on clubhead swing speed, useful for golfers who know their swing speed from a simulator or launch monitor session but want a quick distance ballpark. It applies a widely cited rule of thumb rather than a full ball-flight physics model.
How It Works
You enter your clubhead speed in miles per hour, and the calculator multiplies that number by a fixed ratio to produce an estimated carry distance in yards. No other inputs, such as launch angle or spin, are used.
Formula & Methodology
To reproduce the estimate by hand, simply multiply your measured clubhead speed in mph by 2.3. For example, a golfer swinging at 100 mph would compute 100 x 2.3 = 230 yards of estimated carry. Because the ratio is a single constant, doubling swing speed doubles the estimated distance, which does not reflect how real ball flight behaves at very low or very high speeds.
