How It Works

Formula & Methodology

Because the adjustment factor is less than 1 for older brackets, dividing by it increases the effective time used for classification. For example, a 45-year-old's adjustment factor is 0.92, so a 55-second hold becomes 55 / 0.92 = 59.8 seconds for classification purposes, just short of the 60-second Good threshold. A 55-year-old holding the same 55 seconds gets 55 / 0.85 = 64.7 seconds, which clears the Good threshold.

With no age adjustment (factor of 1), the adjusted time equals the raw 75 seconds, which clears the 60-second threshold and lands in the Good category.

A 62-year-old holding 50 seconds

The age adjustment factor is 0.85, so the adjusted time is 50 / 0.85 = 58.8 seconds, just under the 60-second Good threshold, placing this result in the Average category.
