About the Rabbit Hutch Size

How It Works
You enter the rabbit's weight in pounds. The calculator starts from a base of 8 square feet, which covers rabbits at or below 6 pounds, and adds 0.5 square feet of floor space for every pound of body weight above that 6-pound threshold. Formula & Methodology
For any rabbit weighing 6 lb or less, the "weight minus 6" term is clamped to zero, so the calculator returns the flat 8 sq ft base regardless of how much smaller than 6 lb the rabbit is. Only weight above 6 lb adds incremental space, at half a square foot per additional pound.

A 7-lb rabbit
A 7-lb rabbit needs 8 + max(7-6, 0) x 0.5 = 8 + 0.5 = 8.5 sq ft of minimum floor space.
A larger 12-lb rabbit
A 12-lb rabbit needs 8 + max(12-6, 0) x 0.5 = 8 + 3 = 11 sq ft of minimum floor space.
