How It Works
Select a cut and enter its weight, and the calculator multiplies by an hours-per-pound rate specific to that cut, except for ribs, which use a fixed time range regardless of weight since they're judged by texture rather than a weight-based clock.
Examples
An 8 lb pork shoulder
8 lb at 1.75 hours per pound comes out to an estimated 14 hours of smoke time, typical for a low-and-slow pulled pork cook.
A 12 lb brisket
12 lb at 1.25 hours per pound comes out to an estimated 15 hours, reflecting brisket's somewhat faster rate per pound than pork shoulder despite its larger typical size.
